Rufus Hound takes Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special Title
28 Dec 2013
Rufus Hound, with partner Flavia Cacace, won this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special beating the likes of Rochelle Hulmes from the Saturdays and Eastenders’ Ricky Norwood.
The pair won the trophy with a Tango to Never Do A Tango With An Eskimo, which saw them second in the leader board with a score of 38 points from the judges.
Rufus speaking of the win said, “"It's surreal in the extreme. We didn't really set out to win; the fact that it's happened – I don't know what it means. I think if I had more of a taste for the ballroom, they'd be serving it in a burger!"
Flavia Cacae won last year’s Strictly Come Dancing show with Olympic gymnast Louis Smith but did not take part in the competition this year. Previously to Strictly, in 2010 Rufus won the BBC1 dance contest Let’s Dance For Sport Relief.
Also taking part in this year’s contest was singer and actress Elaine Paige who competed with Pasha Kovalev and topped the leader board with a score of 39 points. However, they missed out on the title due to the public vote. Elaine is embarking on her final ever tour next year.
Singer Matt Goss managed third place from the judges with 35 points while DJ Sara Cox and Ricky Norwood secured 33. Rochelle Hulmes completed the line-up and came last place with a score of 31 points.
The show followed Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing final where Abbey Clancy and partner Aljaz Skorjanec lifted the glitterball trophy after winning this year’s competition.
Abbey Clancy, Susanna Reid and Nicky Bryne as well as others from this year’s Strictly Come Dancing show will take part in the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour with tickets on sale now.
