Sam Smith wins big at 2014 Mobo Awards
23 Oct 2014
Sam Smith was this year’s biggest winner at the 2014 Mobo Awards taking home four prizes.
He started the year winning the Brits Critics’ Choice Award and now the 22-year-old Stay Me Singer has bagged some of the most sought after awards of the night including Best Male Artist and Best Album.
He even went on to win Best RnB / Soul Artist and Best Song for his track Stay With Me; his third single to be lifted from his hit album In The Lonely Hour.
The singer-songwriter faced tough competition from the likes of Estelle, Ed Sheeran and Tinie Tempah at the Mobo Awards which returned to London for the first time in five years. The ceremony was held at The SSE Wembley Arena on Wednesday 22 October.
Smith’s debut album In The Lonely Hour was released during June 2014 and charted at No.1. Since its release it hasn’t left the UK charts (currently at No.3) and even broke records in the US.
In support of the album, Smith is currently touring the UK playing a number of shows up and down the county until November 2014.
If that’s not enough, he’ll be back on the road during March 2015 when he plays some of his biggest headline shows to date including concerts at the Manchester Apollo and London’s O2 Academy Brixton. Tickets are now on sale for all dates.
