Taylor Swift leads 2015 Billboard Music Awards nominees
08 Apr 2015
Taylor Swift is leading the way at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards with 14 nominees under her belt.
The 25-year-old pop-country singer has received 14 nominees in 13 categories, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist.
Other nominees of note include Sam Smith, who follows with 13 nominees, Iggy Azalea (12) and Meghan Trainor (9).
Taylor Swift’s lead comes as no surprise after 1989, her fifth album, broke sales records in the US following its release.
The collection sold over one million copies in its first week of release in the US, which meant Taylor Swift was the first artist to have three albums achieve this feat. 1989 charted at No.1 in the UK and includes singles Blank Space, Shake It Off and Style.
The annual Billboard Music Awards will be held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on 17 May. The awards are based on sales, radio play, social-media stats, touring, and streaming data, which is compiled by Billboard, Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift will be over in the UK and Ireland this summer in support of 1989. The singer will play just five concerts throughout June in Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester and London. The latter of which is part of the British Summer Time Festival and will see Taylor Swift headline London’s Hyde Park. Tickets for all Taylor Swift concerts can be purchased here.
