Download festival named Best Major Festival
Download festival took the crown of the Best Major Festival at the 10th annual UK Festival Awards last night.

The festival, which takes place at Donington Park each year, beat the likes of hugely popular UK festivals, including T in the Park, Creamfields and Glastonbury, to the title.

Download promoter Andy Copping said: “I’m immensely honoured that Download has been named Best Major Festival at the UK Festival Awards, especially considering the other British Institutions we were up against.

“We’re currently working day and night to ensure that Download 2014 will be the best yet. I can’t wait. Bring it on."

The UK Festival Awards, which took place at London’s Roundhouse on 2 December, also honoured Arctic Monkeys as the Headline Performance Of The Year for their set at Glastonbury while Daft Punk’s Get Lucky was awarded Anthem Of The Year.

Download Festival’s 2014 line-up already looks like it will live up to their new title with Avenged Sevenfold, Areosmith, Linkin Park (performing Hybrid Theory), Status Quo, Alter Bridge, Fall Out Boy, Rob Zombie and Steel Panther, amongst others, already confirmed.

For nearly 12 years, Download festival has brought some of the biggest names of rock to the UK including System of Down, Metallica, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Iron Maiden and many more.

Download has become the second biggest festival in Europe as well as taking the title of Best Major Festival in the UK.

Download festival takes place on 13-15 June 2014 at Donington Park with tickets available now. To find your Download tickets go here.
