Blink182 to headline Reading and Leeds Festivals
04 Dec 2013
Reading and Leeds Festivals have announced that Blink-182 will headline the 2014 festivals.
The festivals, taking place on 22-24 August 2014, announced yesterday that Blink-182, comprising of Mark, Tom and Travis, will be the main stage headline act at the festivals.
The announcement, which was aired on Zane Lowe’s BBC One radio show on Tuesday evening, revealed Jake Bugg, Disclosure, Metronomy, Of Mice & Men, Wilkinson and I Am Legion will be joining Blink-182 on the 2014 bill.
Mark Hoppus, from Blink-182, said, “I’m stoked to play Reading & Leeds 2014. It’s our fourth time playing the festivals, and we’re very honoured. The new year will see us in the studio preparing new music, getting ready to rock the fine people of the UK. Prepare for the fury."
For Blink-182, who first performed on the Reading and Leeds stages in 1999, it will be their only UK show. The band will play a selection of their classic songs and some new tracks off of their forthcoming seventh album.
Jake Bugg, who will be returning to the festival for the third time, will be taking things further this year with a performance on the main stage.
Jake said, “It's amazing to be asked back again. I was just kind of starting out the first time I played and it was a really important gig for me. I'm sure playing on the Main Stage will be a different experience again. It should be pretty special."
More acts are to be announced at a later date. Reading and Leeds Festivals tickets constantly sell out with 2013 being no different. Tickets for both Reading and Leeds Festival are on sale now and can be found here.
