Chelsea Flower Show Celebrates Williams F1
30 Mar 2012
An odd pairing maybe, but the Chelsea Flower Show will be honouring the winning Williams F1 team with a special floricultural display in the shape of the current Williams Formula One racing car.
Rayne-based horticultural firm, King & Co have teamed up with the legendary Oxfordshire racing team to celebrate Williams F1 35-year racing history, in which some of the most admired drivers have steered the team to 16 world titles.
A fitting backdrop titled “The Williams Story,” designed by one of Williams’ own graphic designer will accompany the life-sized topiary car.
Mr. King, of King & Co. and long-time Formula One racing fan and long-time exhibitor at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show devised the racing theme and started approaching racing teams. Calling it "the perfect fit because they were very keen to do it," Mr King is certain that the Chelsea Flower Show display is going to be one of the centrepieces of the upcoming show.
"It's going to be fairly spectacular," says Mr King. "We'll have diffuser parts and inserts for the wheels. They'll be lots and lots of things so when you're actually looking at it you can't tell whether it's real or a plant.”
The horticultural eye-catcher can be seen when the Chelsea Flower Show open its doors on 22nd May 2012 at the Royal Hospital in London. 2012 Chelsea Flower Show tickets can now be purchased on Ticketmaster’s GET ME IN! ticket market.
