Robbie tops the charts
28 Nov 2013
Robbie Williams has stormed the charts with his latest album, Swings Both Ways, debuting at No.1 and, with it, bagging the title of the 1,000th No.1 album in the Official Album Chart UK.
Swings Both Ways, released on 18 November 2013, is Robbie Williams’ 11th album to reach to the No.1 spot – a feat that matches Elvis Presley.
The success of the album follows the news that Robbie Williams will embark on a tour across the UK and Europe in 2014 in support of Swings Both Ways.
Robbie Williams said to the OfficialCharts.com, “I am over the moon that Swings Both Ways is number one! And such an honour to be the 1,000th album in that spot too, following Frank Sinatra who was the first person in that spot and my hero. Thanks to everyone who bought the record, see you all on the tour next year!”
The first single from the album, Go Gentle, is currently in the No.10 spot in the UK’s Official Singles Chart. Robbie Williams’ fellow Take That member Gary Barlow has made it to No.3 with his latest release, Let Me Go.
Swing Both Ways takes Robbie Williams back to his 2001 style where he released his first swing album, Swing When You’re Winning.
The album, produced by Guy Chambers , features collaborations with Lilly Allen, Michael Buble, Kelly Clarkson, Olly Murs and Rufus Wainwright.
Swings Both Ways includes several covers and originals penned by Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers.
