Arctic Monkeys and Katy Perry to perform at the 2014 BRITs
03 Dec 2013
Katy Perry and the Arctic Monkeys have been announced as the first confirmed acts to perform at the BRIT awards.
The BRITs, taking place on 19 February 2014 at London's The O2, will see the Arctic Monkeys and Katy Perry joined by James Cordon who will, once again, host the awards – making it his fifth year to do so. He will become the longest running host of the awards.
It will be the first time both Katy Perry and the Arctic Monkeys have performed on the show, despite winning six BRIT awards between them.
Arctic Monkeys have previously won Best Group and the MasterCard British Album twice. Their performance is ahead of their London Finsbury Park shows that will take place in 2014.
The Arctic Monkeys have had a hugely successful year with a performance at Glastonbury, a UK tour and their fifth album AM reaching the No.1 spot. By bagging the No.1 spot it also meant that all five of their albums have made it to No.1.
Katy Perry, who won the International Solo Artist award in 2009, announced that she will be embarking on her The Prismatic World Tour in 2014.
Katy Perry’s world tour follows from the success of her album Prism, which debuted at No.1 in the Official Albums Chart.
This year the BRIT award will be designed by Philip Treacy, the celebrated hat designer who’s worked with the likes of Lady Gaga. Previous awards have been designed by Dame Vivienne Westwood and Damien Hirst. The BRIT Awards will be aired on ITV.
