Katy Perry On Facebook Live Chat

Katy Perry appeared on Facebook Live yesterday. The “California Gurlz” star utilised the enormous reach of Facebook to announce her North American “California Dreams Tour” dates in support of her current album “Teenage Dreams.”

During the live broadcast out of the Facebook HQ in Palo Alto, California, the freshly wedded star answered fan submitted questions.

Katy, who was brought up on gospel music revealed that listening to Alanis Morrisette’s “Jagged Little Pill” album opened up a whole new world to her and proved a massive cornerstone in her musical development.

Katy Perry fan “Moses” asked about the origins and influences of her chart storming hit single “Californian Gurlz.” “I am the California Girl. Born and raised in Santa Barbara,” a joyful Katy Perry shouted “I wrote (California Gurlz) to pay homage to where I come from.”

The big announcement was, of course, Katy’s US tour dates and UK fans should take note as well. Katy Perry wants to make her “California Dreams Tour” the most interactive tour ever. Seeing her as a “child of the Internet age,” Katy urged her fans to come forward with ideas how to make the concert experience truly interactive.

Part of Katy’s interactive concert experience is making use of Facebook and Twitter. Fans should check in at the concert venues during her forthcoming tour via Facebook Places and send tweets on Twitter. “It’s exciting to see who of your friends are also at the gig. I like to know who’s around me,” Katy said. The star plans a ‘lucky number’ draw from her Facebook friends and Twitter followers using Facebook Places and “Twitter Through Facebook” to join Katy Perry live on stage for the grand concert finale or a chance for a meet & greet with her backstage after the show.

Katy Perry is close to a whopping 18 million Facebook friends and is looking forward to a tour incorporating all senses; “sound, smell, sight, taste and touch.”

UK fans of Katy Perry will get their chance of this special concert experience when she arrives in the UK in Spring and Autumn for a string of highly-anticipated, sold-out live concerts.
