Pharrell and John Legend enjoy biggest tracks of 2014
08 Jan 2015
Pharrell Williams, John Legend and Clean Bandit’s singles have been named the biggest songs of 2014.
Pharrell Williams’ Happy led the way becoming the biggest track of the year. This was followed by Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne’s Rather Be and John Legend’s All Of Me, according to the Offcial Charts Company.
Happy was released in June 2013 but has stood the test of time by becoming Britain’s most played track of the following year. In total, Happy has received 1.62 million sales and streams. The single serves as the lead to his second studio album GIRL and was also part of the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.
2014 marks the first year that streaming data has been included in the singles chart. This took effect in June and means data from the likes of Spotify, Napster and Deezer are incorporated into the final totals.
The Top 5 tracks of 2014 are Pharrell Williams’ Happy (1), Clean Bandit ft Jess Glynne’s Rather Be (2), John Legend’s All Of Me (3), Mr Probz’s Waves (4) and Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud (5).
Meanwhile, Pharrell Williams will make his UK returns in June when he will play a one-off concert at Leeds’ First Direct Arena. The gig will take place on 12 June with tickets now on sale here.
