One Direction Tour – Where We Are 2014

The moment One Direction announced their Where We Are Now 2014 World Tour last Thursday, the former X Factor contestants set the World Wide Web on fire. The Twitter hash tag #1BigAnnouncement, instigated by the official One Direction website proved extremely popular with their fans in the US where the boys are off to in June for a lengthy arena tour. Also One Direction fans in Latin America and particularly in Brazil showed big interest in our golden boys.

One Direction will be visiting Latin America on their Where We Are Now tour early in 2014. In fact, it is where the boy will kick off the biggest stadium tour undertaken by any boyband – ever! Colombian fans in Bogota will witness the first Where We Are concert at the Estadio El Campin on April 25th 2014 and fans at Brazil’s massive Palmeiras Arena in Sao Paulo will give Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson a massive sent off.

Historically, Latin American fans are very dedicated and know how to turn any occasion into a party. Latin America is also one of the continents One Direction never performed previously and it should set the bar for the concerts to follow.

One Direction vs. Take That

The band will then board their tour plane to Europe where the On Direction trek plays the first of several dates in Ireland and the UK.

Dublin’s Croke Park has witnessed some remarkable concert in its lifetime. Bono’s ever-present U2 played some of their most revered concerts here when they were on the brinck of mega stardom – the torch could be passed over on May 25th.

One Direction must be under enormous pressure to prove their critics. For any musical act to play stadiums is more than just to satisfy demand - it is a clear sign where the artist's focus is set. But previous stadium tours by several artists have shown that a bigger stage and larger audience doesn't make for a bigger or better gig. One Direction will have to demonstrate that they are ready to fill the big boots and make their show compatible and work in a large space, such as Croke Park and the subsequent UK dates at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, Edinburgh Murrayfield, London Wembley Stadium and the aforementioned Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

The measure One Direction have to live up to was set two years ago by Take That with their gargantuan Progress Live reunion tour with Robbie Williams.

Let's take a look what One Direction are up against ...

Take That managed to grow, entertain and surprise throughout their two hour spectacle that saw the band perform on an elaborate stage production.

Very little has been revealed so far about One Direction’s plans for the actual show. If web rumours are to be believed, the band plans on having two stages to perform on, giving Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson enough room to shake their bits and hi-five their loyalfans.
