10 reasons why Beyoncé is causing a storm
Beyoncé has hit the headlines with her newly released eponymous album and here’s why:

1) The album was a complete surprise.
Following many suggestions that an album was going to be released in 2013, plus a hint from Chairman of Columbia Records, Rob Stringer, earlier in the week that she would release one in 2014, the end result was a complete shock. Beyoncé was released on Thursday 12 December with no prior warning via iTunes only.

2) 14 new songs and 17 music videos are on the visual album.
Her last album was in 2011, so Beyoncé has well and truly pleased her fans with the amount of Beyoncé that they now have access to with this new album.

3) She plays a character in every video.
True to Beyoncé, she proves why she’s a superstar performer. She plays sassy characters in the likes of Yonce, Jealous and Flawless, while going for a makeover with green hair in Superpower to 70s style in Grown Woman.

4) Beyoncé worked with the top names in the music industry.
The album has collaborations from the likes of Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams and Drake to working with Terry Richardson for one her videos.

5) It’s a family affair.
Along with the above, husband Jay Z also made an appearance on Partition while her daughter, Blue Ivy, appears in the video Blue.

6) It is already earning rave reviews.
The album may have come as a complete surprise but that didn’t stop the critics from the getting their hands on it as soon as possible. The Guardian and the Telegraph both opted for four stars with the Telegraph saying, “an event album worthy of her superstar status: it's sexy and smart, with a stripped back modernity that allows the character in her voice to flourish, and stamped with visual wit and swagger.”

7) It’s X-rated.
The superstar might be a 32 year-old mother and wife but that doesn’t stop her showing us her saucy side with explicit lyrics and her signature, sassy dance moves.

8) Top models make an appearance in her video.
Joan Smalls, Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn – three of the world’s top supermodel – made a guest appearance in Beyoncé’s Yonce video.

9) Beyonce is a true artist.
She wrote, produced and directed the album, while working with some of the top names in the business.

10) She’s coming back to the UK.
Beyoncé announced this week that she would bring her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour to the UK in 2014.
