Arcade Fire up for Oscar
Arcade Fire’s William Butler has been nominated for the Oscars’ Best Original Score with Owen Pallett for Her.

William Butler, brother to Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler, produced the score to Spike Jonze’s sci-fi romance Her with composer Owen Pallet. The film has been nominated for Best Original Score at the 86th Academy Awards that will take place on March 2.

The duo’s competition for the award includes the films The Book Thief, Gravity, Philomena and Saving Mr. Banks. Karen O has also been recognised for her work on Her with her song The Moon Shine up for Best Original Song.

She faces competition from Pharrell Williams’ Happy from Despicable Me 2. Happy is currently enjoying the No.1 spot in the UK Official Singles Chart.

William Butler played several gigs in the UK last year with Arcade Fire following the release of their fourth album, Reflektor.

Arcade Fire are back in the UK in June 2014 where they will perform two gigs in London’s Earl Court on 6 and 7. They will then perform in Marlay Park, Dublin on 29 June where the Pixies will be supporting the band. Tickets are on sale now.
