Kylie quits The Voice UK after one series
14 Apr 2014
Kylie Minogue has quit BBC1’s The Voice after one series due to her tour commitments later this year.
Kylie confirmed that she would not return to the show after the final episode saw a dip in viewers from previous seasons. Just 7 million viewers tuned in to watch the final last weekend, which was won by Jermain Jackman.
Rumours about her return to the show started when Kylie announced her UK and Ireland tour that will take place throughout September, October and November, which meant there would be a clash with the filming schedule of the series.
However, it wasn’t until Kylie posted a tweet last Friday that the rumours were confirmed. Kylie tweeted, “Due to timing of my tour I won’t be back next season for The Voice UK.”
Kylie joined the judging panel for season three, along with Kaiser Chiefs’ Ricky Wilson. The change was in a bid to revamp the show. The BBC is still committed to The Voice with season four and five already commissioned.
Kylie will now spend autumn 2014 touring the UK and Ireland. Her Kiss Me Once tour kicks off in Liverpool on 24 September and is in support of her album of the same name. Kylie’s tour will take her across the UK and Ireland with 14 dates in total.
Kylie tickets for her 2014 tour are now on sale.
