Mercury Prize 2014 nominees revealed
The 12 nominated acts for this year’s Mercury Prize Album of the Year have been revealed with seven debuts and three jazz artists making the cut.

The list of musical talent up for the Mercury Prize 2014 includes few big names but a wave of new and upcoming artists including Jungle, FKA Twings and Royal Blood.

The most established artist to make the shortlist is Damon Albarn, who will play two shows at the Royal Albert Hall in November. He received the nomination for his debut solo album Everyday Robots. While Bombay Bicycle Club received the nomination for their first chart-topping album So Long, See You Tomorrow.

On the up-and-coming side, seven debut albums received a nomination including Royal Blood for their self-titled released and FKA Twigs’ LP1.

The Mercury Prize, which celebrates the talent of UK and Irish music, is judged by a panel of music experts from musicians to music journalists and will be held on Wednesday 29 October. See the full list of the nominees below.
