Royal Blood receive Mercury Prize nomination

Royal Blood have been nominated for the 2014 Mercury Prize with their self-titled debut album.
The Brighton-duo’s debut album Royal Blood has made this year’s Mercury Prize Album of the Year shortlist facing competition from the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club, Damon Albarn and Anna Calvi.
The Mercury Prize celebrates British and Irish musicians and is one of the most coveted music awards. Past winners include Pulp, Arctic Monkeys and Elbow. The winner will be announced on 29 October.
Royal Blood’s self-titled album was released at the end of August and charted at No.1. It also became the fastest selling rock debut in three years.
Following album launch, Royal Blood announced a 13-date tour of the UK and Ireland that will take place in autumn 2014. The tour will start in Newcastle on 28 October ending with a show in Bristol on 12 November. Tickets are now on sale for the tour.
