One Direction to play BBC Music Awards
27 Oct 2014
It has been confirmed that One Direction will perform at the inaugural BBC Music Awards – tickets are now on sale.
The five-piece boy band have been named as one of the performers at the first BBC Music Awards, which will be held on 11 December at London’s Earl’s Court.
On Friday the BBC confirmed that One Direction would play at the awards ceremony which hopes to celebrate the past 12 months in pop. Along with One Direction, BBC confirmed that Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Clean Bandit, Clavin Harris and Paloma Faith will also perform at the awards show.
The concert is One Direction’s first announced gig in England since they completed the UK leg of their Where We Are stadium tour in June.
One Direction are due to release their fourth album, Four, in November. The album is the follow-up to 2013’s Midnight Memories (which landed the boys their second consecutive UK No.1 and third in the US) and includes the lead single Steal My Girl.
The BBC Music Awards will be hosted by Fern Cotton and Chris Evans. The ceremony will celebrate the best international and British pop acts from the past year with prizes for International Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and British Artist of the Year.
