System of a Down play oneoff London concert
27 Nov 2014
System of a Down have announced a one-off London concert as part of their Wake Up The Souls world tour.
The Mezmerize group will head to the capital on Friday 10 April 2015 where they will perform at London’s SSE Arena Wembley. The special show will also be the first time that System of a Down have performed indoors in the UK since 2005. Tickets go on general sale on Friday 28 November.
The concert is part of the band’s world tour, Wake Up The Souls, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
The Wake Up The Souls world tour will see the Armenian-American band visit America and Europe concluding with their first perform in Yerevan’s Republic Square, Armenia.
Over the past few years, the band have performed few concerts in the UK. Following their regroup in 2010, after their four-year hiatus, the group have played just three shows. System of a Down headlined Download Festival in 2011 and Reading and Leeds Festival in 2013.
System of a Down’s last release came in 2005 in the form of their dual album, Mezmerize and Hypnotize. Both albums went to No.1 in the US with their song Mezmerize earning the group a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
