One Direction land two BRIT Award nominations
16 Jan 2015
One Direction lead the groups at this year’s BRIT Awards scoring two nominations.
The group have been nominated for best British Group - where they face competition from Coldplay, Clean Bandit, Royal Blood and Alt-J - and British Artist Video of the year.
The band have previously won four BRIT Awards but have yet to take home the award for British Group, despite being nominated for the gong the previous two years.
One Direction landed their first award, British Single of the Year, back in 2012 for What Makes You Beautiful while in 2013 and 2014 the group were recipients of the Global Success award.
This year One Direction will compete in the British Artist Video of the Year category for their video You & I. Their video will be up against Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud and Sam Smith’s Stay With Me amongst others. The full list of 2015 BRIT Award nominees can be viewed here.
One Direction released their fourth album, Four, last year. The collection debuted at No.1 in a number of countries and landed the band their fourth US No.1 thus becoming the first group to debut at No.1 with their first four albums.
In support of Four, One Direction are set to tour around the UK and Ireland during 2015. The tour gets underway with a duo of dates at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on 5 and 6 June and comes to an end at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena on 31 October. Tickets can be purchased here.
