Dave Grohl named Record Store Day ambassador
12 Feb 2015
Foo Fighters’ frontman, Dave Grohl, has been appointed the 2015 Record Story Day ambassador.
Dave Grohl will fly the flag for independent record shops around the world this March. He has been appointed the official ambassador of the day, which will see Grohl detail the importance of the record store.
The news was confirmed with a message from Grohl on the Record Day Store site. Grohl commented, “ I found my calling in the back bin of a dark, dusty record store. 1975's K-Tel's Blockbuster 20 Original Hits by the Original Stars featuring Alice Cooper, War, Kool and the Gang, Average White Band and many more, bought at a small record shop in my suburban Virginia neighborhood, it was this record that changed my life and made me want to become a musician.
“The second that I heard Edgar Winter's "Frankenstein" kick in, I was hooked. My life had been changed forever. This was the first day of the rest of my life.”
The 2015 Record Store Day is the eighth of its kind and will be held on 18 April 2015. Record stores across the world will participate in celebrating the uniqueness of the shop.
