Six of the best Madonna performances
Madonna has entertained, shocked, surprised and delighted as the reigning pop queen and with her UK tour set for 2015 we look back at the best live Madonna moments.

Madonna will return to the UK in December 2015 in support of her latest album Rebel Heart. As one of the world’s most iconic artists, here’s a look back at why everyone is mad for Madonna.

1) Madonna performing Like A Virgin at the 1984 MTV Awards

Madge shocked the world back in the ‘80s with the premiere of Like A Virgin. Performing the song for the first time at the MTV Awards, Madonna donned a wedding dress and popped out of a wedding cake. Descending the cake she ends on the floor flashing her garters.

2) Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show

In 2012 Madonna wowed at the Super Bowl XLVI. The show was her first performance in support of MDNA and saw over 100 million viewers tune in. In true Madonna style it was an epic spectacle complete with gladiators, cheerleaders and acrobatics. The show was complete with a number of superstar guests including Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., Cee Le Green and LMFAO.

3) Bedtime Story - 1995 BRIT Awards

Twenty years ago Madonna was promoting her sixth studio album. She performed the album’s title track at the BRITs complete with flowing locks, wind machine and floor length Versace gown. It would be twenty years until Madge was to perform at the award ceremony again.

4) 2003 MTV VMA Awards with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliot

The cake was back and then on came Britney and Christina glad in wedding outfits before Madonna rose from the cake in all black. The performance – of the Like a Virgin and Hollywood melody – shocked after Madonna shared a kiss with Britney and Christina. This was all before Missy Elliot joined the trio on stage.

5) Holiday at 1985’s Live Aid

Looking back, it’s everything people loved about the ‘80s. From the catchy track, the dancing, to the oversized garish suit complete with a red bob. It was pure ‘80s Madonna and it was a look that was copied by girls around the globe.

6) Madonna at the 2015 Brit Awards

Madonna was back at the BRITs. After twenty years she was going to close the show. Anticipation was rife. What would she do? What should we expect?

Well, an epic cape which was tied too tightly meant Madge took a spectacular fall, which made you gasp in horror for the icon. But of course, this is Madonna we’re talking about and she was back on her feet like a phoenix rising from the ashes ready to continue the track.

The lyrics - I'm not giving up, I'm gonna carry on, Living for love – took on a whole, new poignant meaning for the rest of performance.

Madonna will tour the UK in support of Rebel Heart, her thirteenth studio album, in December 2015. The tour will include just four dates starting at London’s The O2 on 1 December and continuing to the Manchester Arena (14), Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena (16) and Glasgow’s The SSE Hydro (20). Madonna tickets are now on sale here.
