James Bay lands UK No1 with debut album
James Bay has stormed the UK charts following the release of his debut album, Chaos and The Calm.

The rising British singer and guitarist bagged his first UK No.1 on Sunday with the release of Chaos and The Calm, his first full-length studio album.

James Bay’s album was followed by Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour and Ed Sheeran’s X in the UK Albums Chart. Completing the Top 5 was Sonic Soul Surfer by Seasick Steve and Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly. Meanwhile, over in the singles chart, James Bay’s Hold Back The River reached No.2.

The singer-songwriter travelled to Nashville to record Chaos and The Calm, working in the celebrated Blackbird Studios. Producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Norah Jones) was on hand.

The achievement marks a remarkable start to 2015 for the 24-year-old from Hitchin. He was awarded the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award earlier this year and is already selling out venues around the UK.

After the huge success of Chaos and The Calm, James Bay confirmed a nationwide tour that will visit twelve cities throughout the UK and Ireland during autumn. He will play a headline gig at London’s O2 Academy Brixton as part of the tour.

James Bay’s autumn dates are in addition to his April tour and summer festival appearances, which includes taking part in the yearly Summer Series event held at Somerset House.
