Sam Smith has been forced to cancel his appearance at Capital’s Summertime Ball due to illness.
The In The Lonely Hour singer was set to perform at the event on 6 June, alongside One Direction, Avicii, Rita Ora and many more.
Posting on Twitter, Sam Smith said, “Dear all: I am very upset to announce I have been battling to get my vocal cords better the last 10 days but unfortunately they haven’t recovered and I am going to need surgery.
“I’m so gutted to be missing all the shows and events I was meant to be playing at. The doctors says I will be in 6-8 weeks and I cannot wait to sing for you all soon.
Sam Smith recently pulled out of his Australian tour. However, he has now been forced to cancel his appearance at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and Capital’s Summertime Ball.
Capital’s Summertime Ball will return to London’s Wembley Stadium on 6 June. The annual event will see the biggest names in music take to the stage, including One Direction, Avicii, Carly Rae Jepson, Kelly Clarkson and Rita Ora. Tickets are now on sale here for Capital’s Summertime Ball.
