X by Ed Sheeran to return to No1
09 Jul 2015
Ed Sheeran is on track to become the first Friday chart No.1 with his album X.
The singer – who is due to perform for three nights at Wembley Stadium this week – has already spent over a year in the UK top 40 with his third studio album X.
The collection, according to the Official Charts, is now set to regain the top spot. If so, it will be the album’s fourth time leading the chart and the first No.1 album on a Friday chart in the UK.
The Official Charts have now moved to Fridays, after over 50 years on Sundays, to fail in line with global music releases.
X was released in July 2014 and charted at No.1 from the get-go. The album includes Sing and Thinking Out Loud, and has sold over 2 million copies in the UK alone.
This week’s new releases include Krept and Konan’s The Long Way Home, Saint Raymond’s Young Blood and Lucy Rose’s Work It Out.
Ed Sheeran will play London’s Wembley Stadium from Friday 10 July until Sunday 12 July. The singer will then head to Dublin to take to the stage at Croke Park Stadium. Tickets are now on sale here for Ed Sheeran’s concerts.
