Sonic Highways by Foo Fighters has received four Emmy nominations
17 Jul 2015
Sonic Highways, the TV show based on the Foo Fighters’ album of the same name, has landed four Emmy nominations.
It comes as no surprise that the Foos received nominations for the sound of their TV show (they landed nominations for Outstanding Sound Mixing and Editing in the nonfiction category), but they also received a nod for the information contained in the series.
They received a nomination in the category Outstanding Informational Series or Special, and Dave Grohl, who directed the series, picked up a nomination for Outstanding Directing, again in the nonfiction category.
The show followed the recording of the Foo Fighters road album. The show was recorded in eight different states and each episode focused on a different area. The band explored the musical history of each state, as well as recording their album.
The Emmy Awards, which celebrate all things television, will take place in the US on 20 September. This year marks the 67th Emmy Awards.
Foo Fighters will be in the UK in September in support of the album. The band are set to perform in Edinburgh and Milton Keynes. They will be joined by Iggy Pop, Royal Blood Honeyblood. Tickets for Foo Fighters’ UK show are now on sale here.
