One Direction release first single as fourpiece
One Direction have released their first ever single since Zayn Malik left the band.

The now four-piece revealed Drag Me Down today (Friday 31 July). It took the track just a few hours to reach No.1 on several charts.

Drag Me Down is the band’s first track without original member Zayn Malik, and it came as surprise to fans. Following the release, Twitter UK reported 1.6 million tweets about the single. The track went on to lead Billboard’s Trending 140 chart.

Following the release, One Direction said, “Our new single Drag Me Down is out now. We hope you like it. It’s the first song from our new album that we’ve been working very, very hard on.”

Drag Me Down forms the lead single for 1D’s first album with Zayn Malik. The original member left the group in March 2015. He has since signed a solo contract with RCA.

The new album will follow Four, which was the group’s fourth collection. The band are currently on tour promoting the album. They will bring the tour to the UIK in September.
