U2 announce Irish Innocence and Experience tour dates
09 Sep 2015
U2 have finally confirmed Irish tour dates for Dublin and Belfast as part of their Innocence and Experience world tour.
The band – formed in Dublin in 1976 – will play four shows at Dublin’s 3Areana and two dates at Belfast’s SSE Arena in November.
U2’s dates are 18 and 19 November in Belfast and 23, 24, 27 and 28 November in Dublin, which follows on from the UK dates in London and Glasgow.
The gigs, which are part of the band’s Innocence and Experience world tour, have been long-awaited as U2 have already performed shows in North America and are mid-way through their European tour dates.
Speaking on the shows, frontman Bono said, “I am so happy we are bringing this home. These Irish shows will be like an Irish wedding. It is always tricky planning a wedding – who sits beside who could ruin it!”
The band was always due to perform in Ireland but logistics were the reasons for the delay in announcing dates. The band revealed they had to change the show to make it fit in the venues in Ireland.
The homecoming concerts will be unmissable for any U2 fan and it will be the first time U2 have played a headline Northern Ireland concert in 18 years (they last played there during their Pop Mart tour).
U2 tickets will be available via general sale on Monday 14 September. Tickets can be purchased earlier via presale. Tickets for U2’s UK shows are now on sale.
