Coldplay Voted Festival Headliner Of The Year
16 Sep 2011
BBC 6 Music listeners have voted Coldplay as “Best Festival Headliner” of 2011.
Coldplay headlined Glastonbury and T in the Park Festival this summer. The band went out on limb during their summer festival sets, test-driving new, unreleased songs off their forthcoming new album, “Mylo Xyloto.”
Topping the BBC poll with 22.7%, Coldplay are way ahead of US indie band, The National, who come in second with 14.2% and space-rocker, Muse, taking third place with 13.9% in front of Pulp (8.2%) and The Cure (5.8%).
Speaking to BBC 6, Coldplay drummer Will Champion revealed the stress these huge live shows put on him. Admitting he had suffered from anxiety dreams, he says, “They took the place of the 'I'm late for an exam' dreams. (…) The whole band come on... and then they walk off and I'm left carrying the can, just playing a drum solo. Awful.“
One can only hope the rock star drummer will battle these fears. Coldplay are set to release their highly anticipated new album, “Mylo Xyloto” and are expected to embark on a World Tour in the New Year.
