Andrew WKs First Tour In Seven Years
20 Jan 2012
Has it really been ten years since Andrew WK unleashed his metal-punk racket “I Get Wet” upon us?
The album, a call to party, boasted the thunderous hit single “Party Hard” which set dancefloors across the world on fire. In fact the album contained no less than three songs with ‘party’ in the title. And then there was the controversial album cover with its blatant reference to recreational drug abuse.
Andrew WK was the man of the moment and seemed to be set for bigger things but his fame waned as quickly as it had arrived.
Over following next seven years Andrew WK concentrated on keeping the party alive. He became a successful party promoter and opened one of New York’s finest and biggest club venues. Santos Party House, a multi-level nightclub, opened in 2008 and keeps winning awards, including “Top Dance Club” in all of New York City by Zagat Survey.
With all the promotion work for Santos Party House he somehow found time to write and record music. Almost unnoticed from media and fans, Andrew WK has released five studio albums since the 2002 success of “I Get Wet” but none made an impact, let alone achieved the success close to “I Get Wet.”
This year “I Get Wet” is celebrating its 10th anniversary and for this occasions Andrew WK returns on the road. His first live tour in seven years sees Andrew WK perform “I Get Wet” in its entirety. Relive those hazy moments of the early noughties when you partied hard like a mule on ecstasy to Andrew WK.
Andrew WK tickets are now available on Ticketmaster’s GET ME IN! ticket market.
