The Happy Mondays Are Back
30 Jan 2012
The Happy Mondays have confirmed their comeback for a series of concerts in May!
The original line-up include Happy Mondays’ frontman Shaun Ryder, Bez, Mark Day, Paul Davis, Paul Ryder and backing singer Rowetta Satchell and despite comeback rumours having circulated for quite some time, the band has frequently denied these reports.
Rowetta enthuses how excited the band was about the comeback. "We want to put on a really good show.” she says, “We decided it would only be special and work if it was the total, original line-up. We're all really excited. They are my family these boys, I've really missed them and I'm sure they've missed each other."
No tour date shave been announced as of yet but rumours suggest the band will tour the UK in May and The Happy Mondays are also hotly tipped to support their long-time friends and Madchester buddies, The Stone Roses at their homecoming shows at Heaton Park in Manchester.
Talking about the possible double-header with The Stone Roses, Rowetta said: "It's up to the Roses. As long as we've not killed each other by then, we'd be up for it."
Despite previous reunions, this years Happy Mondays concerts would mark the first time all original members of the pioneering Madchester band would be back together on stage since 1992.
