Every music lover knows Paul Simon’s songs; “The Boxer,” “Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard,” “I Am A Rock,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Mrs. Robinson” to name just a few, solo and with his song writing partner Art Garfunkel in Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon has established himself as one of the most prominent and finest songwriters.
”Graceland” is a kaleidoscope of musical influences that range from Pop, Rock, Jazz, American Roots Music to World Music, and in particular Paul Simon’s love to South African sounds.
Paul Simon’s album arrived at a time of heightened sanctions on South Africa to bring to an end the country’s then apartheid regime. Paul Simon was accused of breaking the sanctions by recording parts of the album in South Africa but logic prevailed and the United Nations’ Anti-Apartheid Committee ruled the album would showcase and further the talent of many South African artists involved on the album, such as Bakithi Kumalo and Youssou N'Dour amongst many others.
Paul Simon performing his classic “Graceland” album alongside some of his Greatest Hits; is an opportunity not to be missed. Paul Simon tickets for this show go on sale this Friday, 23rd March 2012 from 9am.
