One Direction vs One Direction
11 Apr 2012
The One Direction heartthrobs’ US blitz has received a small setback. A struggling Californian rock band with the same name has now filed what is believed a multimillion Dollar lawsuit against Simon Cowell’s pop cash cow.
If successful, the unknown Californian rock outfit would prevent Cowell’s One Direction of using their current name in promotional material and even could receive a share of profit earned so far in the US by the British chart-toppers.
The lawsuit was filed on Monday the Californian band says they would be entitled to three times the profits made by their British namesakes.
In grand scheme of things, this shouldn’t bother the One Direction boys, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles much. The X Factor contestants have quickly become one of the biggest pop acts with no less than 4.2 million Facebook fans and 2.8 million followers on Twitter. The One Direction studio debut “Up All Night,” already a stellar success in the UK, also shot straight to the Number One spot of the US Billboard Charts, making it the first British debut album to achieve this success!
Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles are taking their One Direction live on tour in 2013. One Direction tickets for all 2012 shows are available through Ticketmaster’s GET ME IN! ticket market.
