Usher Reveals New Album Details
17 May 2012
American R&B super star Usher is back with his highly anticipated new album Looking 4 Myself.
The ‘You Make Me Wanna’ and ‘Nice and Slow’ star has had a tempestuous few years. With his divorce from Tameka Foster in 2009 and custody battle of his two sons (Usher and Naviyd), Usher’s new album Looking 4 Myself is a deeply personal and emotional masterpiece dedicated to his suffering.
Usher describes his album as "art-in-motion diary" and went on to say “There's an emotional side to it. Over the last three years of my life, it's no secret I went through some heavy transitions and in that I really came out new. I came out feeling a sense of entitlement and a sense of ownership of all of that I went through to become better and in being able to survive it. So I was looking for something in the music," he told MTV News during MTV First.
"I was looking for something in life. I was looking for something in it has always been right here. It has always been there. So I kind of used the music as a diary in a way, but a creative, artistic, art-in-motion diary."
One of the singles from the album, Climax, has got people speculating of the meaning of the song, though Usher has been quick to defend any connotations with sex.
Usher last went on his OMG Tour in 2011, and since then has been rebuilding his music career.
Looking For Myself is due for release 12th June 2012 and features productions by dance hit makers Swedish House Mafia and famous producer Diplo (Major Lazer, M.I.A).
