The Rolling Stones Reveal 50th Anniversary Documentary
17 Oct 2012
The Rolling Stones announced their comeback shows in London at The O2 Arena 25th and 29th November 2012, as well as dates in the USA.
As part of the band’s publicity machine, their film ‘Charlie Is My Darling — Ireland 1965’ depicts the young Mick Jagger in his prime, unaware of quite how successful they would become. He said in an interview at the time:
“We’ll probably be around for a year or maybe a year and a half, and then it’s all going to be over.”
Now, ‘Charlie’ is being shown at Graumann’s Chinese theater in Hollywood and will also be released as a DVD.
Robin Klein, the producer of the documentary said that the documentary was “Never supposed to be released”, but with the re-emergence of The Rolling Stones, and the imminent hysteria that will follow when they perform in a month’s time, any Rolling Stones products are bound to be popular. Another long documentary will be shown today as part of the BFI London Film Festival.
‘Crossfire Hurricane’ is a new documentary by Academy Award nominated Brett Morgen and is produced by Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman. The documentary covers in close detail, the lives of The Rolling Stones and focuses closely on the first 20 years of the band’s journey into rock n’ roll career.
The film shows rare and unseen archive material, including newsreel, film and TV appearances, and excerpts from famous previous Stones movies, and has audio commentary from Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, and Ronnie Wood as well as interviews with Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor.
