David Bowie Makes His Surprise Return
David Bowie is back! The Thin White Duke released the first single of his forthcoming new album, New Day yesterday (8th January), which also marked Bowie’s 66th birthday.

New Day is David Bowie’s first new album in 10 years and has been produced by long-time collaborator and friend Tony Visconti who drew responsible on Bowie’s classic albums, such as Space Oddity, Scary Monsters and Heroes amongst many more.

The news of Bowie’s sudden return came as a big surprise to many of his fans. The albums Heathen (2002) and Reality (2003) were the last new albums released. Following a heart condition and subsequent operation in 2004, David Bowie has kept a low profile for almost a decade and given rise to speculations over his heath and future to record and perform.

Speaking to the BBC, Bowie producer Tony Visconti spoke about the most recent recording sessions with Bowie that resulted in the new single Where We Now? and the album New Day:

"David is extremely healthy, he's rosy-cheeked, he smiles a lot," says the long-time friend and producer about the ‘Space Oddity’ star. "During the recording (David Bowie) was smiling, he was so happy to be back in the studio. From the old days I recall that he was the loudest singer I've ever worked with. When he starts singing I'd have to back off, and go into another room and just leave him in front of a microphone, he still has that power in that chest and in his voice. We all know he had a health scare in 2003, 2004, but he's a very healthy man I can assure you; I've been saying this for the past few years. I couldn't explain why I know that, but I worked with a very healthy and happy David Bowie in the studio."
