One Direction Embarrassed In Twitter Outbreak
One Direction got slapped on Twitter after the band encouraged their fans to upload photos of their ‘real One Direction tattoos’.

The backlash followed an outbreak of angered parents the boyband, often referred to as ‘1D’ by their largely under-18 fans, removed the tweet shortly. The original tweet posted by One Direction asked: "Have a real #1D tattoo? Show us! Submit a 90 sec YouTube video to and show us why you should be in the @1D3Dmovie!"

The news spread quickly and before the band was able to take the tweet off, it had been retweeted by over 4000 One Direction followers and more than 6000 fans set the embarrassing tweet as their favourite.

One Direction Twitter follower, @plumlilo asked: "Why would you encourage people to get tattoos that they'll regret in 10 years" and @ JB1DJanoskians tweeted more outspoken: "A real tattoo of 1D, I’m so sorry but that is a load of b*******, people who do that is sick."

The popular Social Media network, Twitter has no relevant upload restrictions setup except that participants have to be over the age of 14 to upload images to Twitter.

One Direction, who are currently in the middle of their massive UK arena tour, have been the centre of controversy several times in the past few weeks. Most recently, band member Niall Horan found himself in a spat with indie star, Jake Bugg. Bugg question that One Direction have been called “The New Beatles” and branded the former X-Factor band “terrible”. One Direction heartthrob, Louis Tomlinson then took to Twitter: "Hi @jakebugg do you think slagging off boy bands makes you more indie?"

One Direction current single “One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)”, a stomping cover/mesh-up of the punk classics by Blondie and The Undertones, is the official 2013 Comic relief track. Love or loath the track, but all proceedings go to the good cause of the Comic Relief charity.
