Andy Murray Slams All England Club
18 Apr 2012
British tennis player Andy Murray has slammed the current prize allocation for Wimbledon Grand Slam tournaments.
He blasted the All England Club and said “Each Slam wants to be the biggest on the calendar so it’d be hard to see one increasing the money and others not following. For some people, tennis can be just a five or six-year career.”
The French Open seems to have paid heed to the current situation by paying the first round losers £15,000 more than last year – something Murray hopes will happen in Wimbledon. He went on to say “Hopefully, next year it will be throughout the tournament, not just the first rounds.”
Wimbledon is one of the most highly anticipated sporting events on the British calendar, with tickets highly in demand for this exciting tennis event.
