South Africa Cricket
The South Africa Cricket Team (also known as the “Proteas”), was created in 1991 under the formation of Cricket South Africa (CSA), the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in South Africa.
The team also played in international test series cricket from 1889 onwards against England, Australia and New Zealand but briefly dropped out of international cricket from 1970-1991 (after apartheid ended).
The South Africa Cricket team reached the quarter finals of the 2011 World Cup against New Zealand but failed to go further in the competition. The current captain, Graeme Smith, is the youngest and most successful South Africa captain of all time.
