Andre Rieu In-depth Biography
André Rieu is a world famous Dutch violinist, conductor, and composer, famous for bringing the Waltz back in fashion. Born in Maastricht, Holland, André Rieu attended the Music Academy in Brussels, Conservatoire Royal in Liège and at the Conservatorium Maastricht.
His fascination with the Waltz led him to create the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987 and wowed his audiences and critics alike with his style and mannerisms.
André Rieu first played Gold und Silber' by Frantz Léhàr which led him into the beginning of a very special journey into the world of music.
Since then he has gone onto achieve many honors and accolades, notably two World Music Awards and many gold albums including Waltzing Matilda (2008) and Forever Vienna (2009).
