Aida
Aida is an opera by the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi. It was first shown in Khedivial Opera House, Cairo in December 1871 with the music being conducted by Giovanni Bottesini.
Aida is a tale of love, betrayal and tragedy. The opera is about a love-triangle between Aida, who is sold into slavery in Egypt and Radames, a military commander who must choose between his love for Aida or his loyalty to the Pharaoh. Amneris, the Pharaoh’s daughter is in love with Radames and the opera tragically ends with the death of Aida.
The opera has been performed across the world at various venues including the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London.
