About Jay Z
Shaun Carter is known as a rapper, producer, businessman and husband to Beyoncé. Throughout his career he’s had a string of successful hits including all three Blueprint albums.
The 2013 Grammy Awards saw Jay Z perform on stage with N Sync and successful solo singer Justin Timberlake, as they sang their latest collaboration, Suit & Tie to a delighted, packed audience.
Rounding off 2012, Jay Z performed with Coldplay at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and worked with the Brit awarded Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Timbaland and Roc Nation favourites.
Jay Z performed as part of the Olympic events at the BBC Hackney Weekend which took place 23-24th June 2012, and had thousands of lucky holders of Jay Z tickets singing along to Jay-Z’s massive hits Run This Town, (with Rihanna), Dirt Off Your Shoulder, I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me), Public Service Announcement, Where I'm From, Jigga What, Jigga Who, U Don't Know, 99 Problems and many more.
Jay Z's latest album Magna Carta Holy Grail sees the rap icon work with wife Beyonce as well as close friend Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Pharrell Williams and J Roc, among others.
The platinum album was controversially released via a Samsung app, which was exclusively available for Samsung users before the album was released on 9 July globally. The cover of the album was taken from The Salisbury Cathedral where one of the four remaining 1215 Magna Carta documents can be found. As part of the promotion the album cover was on display throughout July 2013.
Last year, Jay Z performed with friend and co-star Justin Timberlake at Wireless Festival which took place 12-14 July at the Queen Elizabeth Park in Stratford. Over 50,000 music fans clambered to see Justin Timberlake and Jay Z perform together for their Legends of the Summer UK leg of the tour.
Using Wireless Festival 2013 as a platform to wet the appetites of his UK fans, Jay Z went on to announce his Magna Carta World Tour. As part of his tour, he performed three arena dates at The O2, London as well as a show at Manchester Arena and Birmingham NIA Arena.
