Born 8th June 1977, Kanye West is from Atlanta, U.S.A and is one of the top five rappers in the hip-hop world. Kanye West gained early success through Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records.
In 2008, he was voted by MTV as the "Hottest MC in the Game”. Kanye West has built his reputation up by writing songs for a number of successful artists notably; Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Janet Jackson. Not only this, he has honed the skills of other popular artists such as John Legend, Common and Kid Cudi.
In the early stages of his career he collaborated with Jay-Z on The Blueprint²: The Gift & the Curse and then produced his debut album The College Dropout (2004) which received critical acclaim by the press. Kanye West is the highest nominated rapper in all music categories and has achieved over 49 accolades.
Late Registration (2005) spawned the hits "Gold Digger", "Heard 'Em Say" and "Touch the Sky" and the album sold a phenomenal amount of records and went straight to number one on the Billboard 200 Chart.
In the late 2000s, Kanye West brought out Graduation (2007) and 808s & Heartbreak (2008), still grieving from the sudden death of his mother, which had made him visibly upset and was prevalent to fans when he was performing on stage.
He went on to produce Watch the Throne (2011) with Jay-Z, a collaborative album which was recorded with different artists in different locations including London, Paris and New York.
