Scotland Rugby
The tradition of fierce Scottish Rugby teams dates back to 1871 when the Scotland Rugby Team beat England in the first ever international rugby match.
In 1872 the first England v Scotland Calcutta Cup match took place in a traditional fixture that continues to this day. Scotland played in the first Home Nations tournament, the predecessor to the Six Nations, with Scotland v England, Scotland v Ireland and Scotland v Wales rugby matches taking place.
In 1910 Scotland v France took place for the first time, and in the year 2000 the Five Nations became the Six Nations with Scotland v Italy. Scotland has never won a Rugby World Cup, but 1991 reached the 3rd place playoff, while Scotland v New Zealand saw the All Blacks triumph.
