Mercury Prize winners Alt-J will headline some of the UK’s biggest arenas during late 2015.

The group, who formed in Leeds, will start their tour on 29 November in Manchester. They will continue with dates during December in Exeter, Cardiff, Leeds, Glasgow and Nottingham.

6 December sees the band play a huge gig in Leeds, where the group formed after meeting at Leeds University in 2007, at the city’s newest music venue, First Direct Arena.

The tour is a fitting way to end the year, which started with the band playing their biggest UK show at London’s The O2 and continued with a performance on the Main Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival ahead of headliner Mumford & Sons.

With an Ivor Novello, Mercury Prize and numerous festival performances behind them, tickets for Alt-J are not to be missed.

About Alt J

Alt-J formed in Leeds and consist Joe Newman (lead vocvals/guitar), Gus Unger-Hamilton (keyboards) and Thom Green (drums). Their name was taken from the computer symbol “change” after several name changes; From Daljit Dhaliwal to Films, they finally settled on Alt-J.

The group have released two albums: An Awesome Wave (2012) and This Is All Yours (2014). Their debut release earned the band 2012’s Mercury Prize and the Album of the Year award at the 2013’s Ivor Novello Awards.

This Is All Yours followed two years later. Reaching No.1 on the UK Albums Chart, it was released by Infectious and was produced by Charlie Andrew. The album was written mostly during the band’s tour in support of An Awesome Wave.

Alt-J‘s music is a combination of pop, vocals, synths, hip-hop elements and folk – all thrown together in an artful way that has given the group a unique sound and a loyal following.
