Arctic Monkeys
Arctic Monkeys are an indie rock band from Sheffield. The band currently consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, Lead/rhythm guitar), Jamie Cook (rhythm/lead guitar), Nick O'Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Matt Helders (drums, percussion, backing vocals).
The indie-rock band grew popular on the underground scene, first releasing material on various labels and their tune "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" proved to be fruitful for the band, going straight in at number one in the UK Singles Chart in 2005.
Their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006) was a phenomenal success, pushing Arctic Monkeys to the height of fame causing friction within the band and resulting in Andy Nicholson (bassist at the time) to leave.
Their third album, Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007) was again very successful and spawned a number of festival outings including Glastonbury and Ibiza Rocks – with Arctic Monkeys tickets completely oversubscribed and people left outside the venue trying to get in!
The albums Humbug (2009) and Suck It and See (2011) followed with high profile gigs for the respected tours.
