Asia
Asia is a British hard-rock super-group formed from two bands Yes and Emerson, Lake & Palmer who were big in the ‘70s.
The band has had a number of different line-ups over the years but the current line-up consists of Geoff Downes (keyboards), Steve Howe (guitar), Carl Palmer (drums) and John Wetton (bass, lead vocals).
In 1981 Asia formed and reined the charts, MTV and radio waves with their first self-titled album in 1982 which sold over 4 million copies (in US) and 10 million worldwide. Massive singles to come of the album included "Only Time Will Tell" (No.17) and "Heat of the Moment" (No.4).
After the first album, Asia failed to emulate their initial global success and in 1986 the band parted ways, only to be reunited in 2006.
In 2012 the band decided to celebrate their 30th anniversary with a new studio album XXX which was released on 2nd July 2012 and contained the single “Face On The Bridge” (released May 2012). Asia also produced a DVD “Resonance” which contained footage from their Omega World Tour (2010-2011) and was released as part of the 30th Anniversary Edition along with other releases.
During Asia’s 30 years in the music business, the band has completed several world tours and released three studio albums in total - 2008's Phoenix, and 2010's Omega and now XXX (2012).
