Australian Pink Floyd
Australian Pink Floyd is an all star tribute band dedicated to all things Pink Floyd. The story began in Adelaide 1988, where a Pink Floyd enthusiast and guitarist, Lee Smith, decided to expand his budding tribute band and went about advertising for a new vocalist and keyboard player; enter Steve Mac and Jason Sawford.
That was then. Over twenty years later and many musicians added; Australian Pink Floyd is still going strong. The group compromises: Paul Bonney (drums), Colin Wilson (bass guitar, vocals) David Domminney Fowler (guitar, vocals), Alex McNamara (vocals), Mike Kidson (saxophones), Bianca Glynn (backing vocals), Emily Lynn (backing vocals), Lara Smiles (backing vocals), Lorelei McBroom (backing vocals).
In 1993, at their first gig at Wembley Convention Centre for Pink Floyd fans, Australian Pink Floyd wowed the audience for three hours. Exit Lee Smith and roadie “Bear” Smith.
Further success at Belfast’s Limelight ensured a rising amount of popularity for the ambitious group and the band secured a place for the real Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, for his 50th birthday, performing to none other than to Pink Floyd members themselves.
The late ‘90s saw Australian Pink Floyd perform at super festival, Glastonbury and the massive Battersea Power Station in London.
