Gough’s recording career began in 1997 when his first ever release ‘EP1’ was put out. Only 500 copies were produced and distributed so were seen as gold dust amongst Badly Drawn Boy fans and some copies were even sold for as much as £100 on eBay. Two further records ‘EP2’ and EP3’ were released, in 1999 two further EPs were released, the last being ‘Once Around the Block.’
It was his debut album that won him the Mercury Music Prize in 2000, ‘The Hour of the Bewilderbeast’ was considered to be his defining work and it spawned four singles including a re-release of ‘Once Around the Block.’ He then went on to write and perform the score for the 2002 adaptation of Nick Hornby’s novel ‘About a Boy.’ Four singles were released from the soundtrack.
Three albums later and a change of record label the Badly Drawn Boy tour is moving across Europe and should be heading this way very soon! Keep an eye out for Badly Drawn Boy tickets so you don’t lose your chance to see him perform live and see his new material on stage.
