Beth Orton
Beth Orton (real name Elizabeth Caroline Orton) was born 14th December 1970 and is best known for her folk and electronic compositions. She achieved a BRIT Award in 2000 for Best British Female and was also nominated in 1998 and 2003.
During this time Beth Orton worked with the likes of the dance producer William Orbit and electronic producers the Chemical Brothers. Her music has been used in many American TV series such as Grey’s Anatomy and Dawson’s Creek.
Beth Orton worked with super cool alternative nu-disco electronic producer and DJ Andrew Weatherall on her Trailerpark EP and went on to tour with the likes of The Beautiful South before she had her first UK Top 40 with “She Cries Your Name.”
Beth Orton produced her second successful album Central Reservation which earned her a Mercury Music Prize and a BRIT Award. Parting ways with Heavenly Records, Beth Orton released Comfort of Strangers in 2006 through EMI and moved away from her electronic sound to a more folk based style.
In July 2012, Beth Orton announced her new album: Sugaring Season would be released in October 2012 on the Anti- record label.
