Blood Red Shoes
Blood Red Shoes formed in 2004 and are Brighton alternative punk rock duo Laura-Mary Carter (Vocals and guitar) and Steven Ansell (Vocals and drums).
The pair named themselves after the Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire musical; and fashioned themselves on the likes of US underground Punk rock bands as Sonic Youth and Queens of the Stone Age. They name-checked Blur and veteran Indie star PJ Harvey as their idols.
After Blood Red Shoes formed they quickly signed to V2 records and were part of the NME Music Tour in 2007 and went on to support the likes of Scottish alternative act Biffy Clyro, American band ‘The Gossip and Rage Against the Machine amongst others.
The duo received airplay from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Zane Lowe (on BBC Radio One) and also XFM.
Blood Red Shoes has brought out three albums to date: Box of Secrets (2008), Fire Like This (2010) In Time to Voices (March 2012).
